Quote For This Week:
You’re not a failure, just for needing more time. No rush. It’s okay.
The Quote Explained:
Often in our life, we find ourselves with too much on our plate and not enough energy to complete those tasks. This is when we start feeling worthless, good-for-nothing and compare ourselves to others who, apparently, are doing and achieving far more than you are at that time.
But the fact of the matter is that, it happens. You do need more time sometimes, to do the things you’d agreed to do. Just know that it’s fine. Maybe you made a mistake assuming how tough the task was or maybe you considered too many opinions from others and it all mixed up.
You are not a failure just because you need more time to do the stuff you initially agreed to do. You don’t have to panic or overwork yourself. Take everything slow and easy and make right decisions along the way. All of us are humans, and as it is said, “To err is human”. We make mistakes. Maybe you misjudged the time you had on your hands for a particular task, or thought you could do it, but your energy levels couldn’t catch up and you were too tired. You’re not a machine. Remember that.
At moments like these, you can calmly ask the other party for more time giving suitable reasons, surely they’ll understand. Because at the end of the day, they must have faced this at least once in their life, too. You could also decline a few activities that might be too draining for you. But one thing you must never do is feel stressed, overwhelmed, anxious or worried about everything you have left to do, ignore your own needs and overwork yourself. That’s harsh on yourself. Understand. It’s not right to tire yourself for the sake of others.
There’s no rush, no one’s going anywhere, and everyone feels like they aren’t enough, some time or the other. Just know that you are not a bad person for needing more time at any point in your life. It’s okay. You’re human. And it’s human nature to make mistakes. Sometimes, it’s not even your mistakes. It’s something called fate. Maybe you got something along the way while doing something else and you didn’t know it would turn up, right?
At times like these, you can calm yourself by maybe meditating or journalling, as a way to sort through everything that’s on your plate . Try to make decisions that help. For example, you can work in sessions instead of overworking once in a big chunk. These are all decisions, which seem like little things, but help you in a very big way. You can then convert all your pending tasks to a to-do list with easily actionable points. That’s surely gonna help.
The quote may be also be referring to self imposed tasks you need more time for. At that time, calm down. Take it all slow. Breathe. See what decisions you can take. Try to collect all thoughts in your mind, organise them and compile them all into some things you could do to get the task(s) done.
Final thoughts:
It’s time you start taking time out and living for yourself, instead of living for others.
