It’s Your Body

Quote For This Week:

You are much more than a body.

Its Meaning:
Oftentimes we find ourselves wishing for a more “perfect” body, without realising the outside isn’t what matters, but it’s what’s inside that matters more than anything. That’s what the quote points towards. It hints at body positivity, accepting yourself and thinking more about developing your mind instead of comparing your body with an image of how it should be according to society’s standards, which don’t matter anyway.

Our Thoughts:
Accept your body. That’s something you’ve been “gifted” with. Be proud of your body, however it may be. Do everything you could do to make it better, but only because the real “you” wants to, not because an influencer you saw has the fairest skin or the slimmest body.

“Accept your body and be proud of it”. By this, we mean be proud of it but don’t express it to make others jealous or to boast about how your body is. If you do so, it shows that the mind is something that you should work on, not the body.

Better — Anything can get better! And so can your body. It may not be “better” by societal standards, but if it’s better just for you, it’s mission accomplished. If you want to know what’s better, gather inspiration from people who’ve gone through similar problems as you and try what they did, but don’t compare.

Something that comes along with gathering inspiration is comparing. “If this worked for that person, why not for me?” That’s because you’re different, you’re not that person. There’s a quote that says:

“Even if all of us were of the same age, shared the same blood, did the same work and ate the same food, we’d all still have different bodies.”

On the flipside, accepting your body for how it is does not mean sitting around and doing nothing to make it healthier. It means not being unhappy with how it is presently, it means not comparing yourself to that slim person you saw at school, but what it really means is being grateful and happy for being who you are, and also working on yourself without rushing anything or trying to look a specific way.

Some people get so caught up in the useless standards that persist in today’s world, that they resort to even surgical methods to look “perfect”. But guess what, you can’t ever look perfect, and you can never please everyone. It’s impossible.
So, the only person you should compare yourself with is your past self. If you’re healthier and better than how you were before, you’re on the right track. If you’re not, just work gradually towards a healthier body. There’s no need to rush.

Better isn’t more beautiful buddy, it’s healthier. The society does care a lot about beauty standards and is open to body shaming. Yes, you should care a bit about how you look but only if you like doing so. “Being physically fit and healthy” is a goal that should be permanently fixed in your mind. Healthier body means a healthier mind and overall a healthier you.

What people sometimes neglect in the rat race of trying to look “perfect” is that there are quite a few body types, and not everyone has the same kind of body. Maybe you’re absolutely fine as you are, but getting yourself worked up just because someone you compare yourself with has a different body type, isn’t the way to go about it. Know your own body, what works for you, what doesn’t, and then work towards a fitter, healthier you.

The most important thing is you feeling confident about yourself, being comfortable in your own skin and not trying to change how you look just to be like that person you saw on Instagram or somewhere else. If you carry yourself well, no matter how you look, people will feel the good vibes you’ll give out. If you feel good, no one else has the right to tell you otherwise.

Remember, you matter the most. It doesn’t matter what others have to say. Don’t let them define how you should look like, and don’t work on pleasing someone other than you. The right people are always going to accept you for who you are. And that’s exactly what you should do as well.

Final thoughts:
After all, it’s what’s inside you that matters more than anything. No one wants to be with a person who has a slim body but a negative attitude, do they?
