Get Uncomfortable

Quote For This Week:-
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”.

Comfort is addicting, and addictions are bad.

Today, we’re going to talk about what “comfort zone” means and how it’s holding you back from everything you want to achieve.

What is this “comfort zone”?

Comfort zone refers to all the things and experiences you’re familiar and comfortable with, and have been doing for quite a while. These are things that you don’t need to push yourself for; rather, they’re what come to you naturally, without you having to apply yourself in any way. It’s like your safe space, where you are in control of everything. Your comfort zone could include anything like a topic that you know a lot about, or something you’re good at.

When you keep living in your comfort zone, you don’t put in effort. You just repeat the things you’re comfortable with. If you don’t put in effort, you can’t move forward in life. Thus, life begins when you think not just about you and your comforts, but also about how you’re going to break the barriers of your little comfort zone and come out to life, battling everything in the way between you and your goal.

Imagine life to be a vast stretch of land on the other side of a river called challenges. You are on the opposite side, the comfort zone. You have to not just cross, but build and cross a bridge over the river, with your efforts (which, if you put in the right place, bear fruits). Now, that’s a cool way to understand this, right?

What if I stay in my comfort zone forever?

Well, you won’t ever get to learn or experience more than you have already, and will be oblivious to all that you don’t know; instead, you’ll simply be doing all that you’ve done lots of times already. In essence, you will be bored.

When we don’t push ourselves and our limits, the ability of our brains to form new connections and grasp new information decreases. So if we don’t challenge ourselves, we actually begin to deteriorate, in a way, by not getting to learn and grow more. So, this is why you always need to strive to go outside your comfort zone, instead of being fearful and staying inside it.

Here, we’d like to say that you don’t need to get out of your comfort zone; rather, you need to expand it. Expand it so that you’re comfortable with more things than you were before, experience more than you had already, and get to learn even more.

There are a few zones people talk about, which come after the comfort zone.
They are,:-
Fear Zone, where you are on the brink of getting to experience new things, but are fearful of venturing outside your comfort zone
Learning Zone, where you learn and experience more than you did before, and finally,
the Growth Zone, where you encounter new opportunities and the power to realise your dreams

All of these zones exist just after your comfort zone, even after you expand it. (The world is big, after all).

Your aim should be to make your comfort zone as big as possible, which means to master lots of things, which will enable you to take risks that will yield higher profits to you.

Think about how exciting each day would be if you overcome your fears and just go for all the things you want to do!

We’d like to add here that you don’t need to be taking risks 24*7. You can always come back to your comfort zone when you need to relax; just make sure to not get too comfortable.

In Essence:-

You won’t move forward in life unless you come out of your comfort zone and explore the other zones, which help you to get nearer to your goal. As much as your comfort zone seems lovely, it is also deadly, if you stay there for more than the adequate time.
